per monthWhat do these deductions mean?
Estimated net pay is gross pay minus the employee contributions and withheld taxes shown above. Social contributions fund health, long-term care, pension and unemployment insurance. Wage tax is a monthly withholding, not your final annual income tax.
Indicative calculation. Not tax advice.
How to read your net-pay result
Monthly net pay depends on more than gross salary. Tax class, health insurance, church tax and details about children can all affect the estimate.
1. Check your details
Compare your tax class and child allowance with ELStAM. Check your federal state, church tax and your health insurer's additional contribution rate.
2. Understand deductions
Pension, unemployment, health and care insurance are social contributions. Wage tax, solidarity surcharge and church tax (where applicable) are listed separately.
3. Choose your next step
If your payslip looks different, use the Payslip Explainer. For comparisons between married partners, use the Tax Class Comparison.
Why might your payslip differ?
This tool models 12 equal monthly salaries for regular employees with statutory health insurance. One-off payments, private health insurance, individual wage-tax allowances, tax class IV with factor and other special employment cases are not included. Your insurer's actual additional contribution rate can also change the result.
Frequently asked questions about gross and net pay in 2026
Is this the exact amount paid to my bank account?
No. This is an indicative estimate for the stated conditions. Your actual payslip may include other items.
Why is the additional health contribution set to 2.9%?
This is the average additional statutory health-insurance contribution for 2026. Your insurer may charge a different rate. Enter your rate if you know it.
Why does the calculator ask about children?
Children can affect long-term care insurance contributions. The ELStAM child allowance factor (ZKF) is a separate tax detail. ZKF is not needed here for classes V and VI. PVA values 1–4 are withheld from net estimates until independently verified.
Does my tax class change my final annual income tax?
Tax class primarily changes monthly withholding. Final income tax depends on the annual assessment and your personal circumstances.
Is the §35a tradesperson tax relief already included in monthly net pay?
No. Eligible tradesperson tax relief is considered separately through the annual income-tax return. The Tradesperson Invoice Splitter helps check possible qualifying labour costs separately.
